The GE Logiq V5 is similar to the Logiq V2 portable ultrasound machine in a number of ways. First, it engineered and designed to specialize in urological ultrasound application images. Both the Logiq V5 and Logiq V2 are technically shared service systems, due to their versatile nature. They are compatible with a variety of GE probes and transducers, and include image enhancing technology that will assist doctors in providing the most accurate diagnosis possible. The fundamental difference, however, is that the Logiq V5 is more advanced than the V2, and is a stationary ultrasound machine, whereas the V2 is portable.
The GE Logiq V5 is armed with some integral image enhancing ultrasound technology. Some of these features include M-Mode, Color Doppler, Power Doppler, Compound imaging, Tissue Harmonic imaging, Panoramic imaging, and Auto Optimization. All of these technologies are integral to providing the best possible patient care. This ultrasound machine, very user friendly, uses DICOM, Ethernet, and contains a CD port and printer.
In addition to the image enhancing ultrasound technologies, the Logiq V5 is capable of producing ultrasound images for many different applications, permitting doctors to diagnose many different body parts and structures employing this system. Although it specializes in urological applications, the V5 can also produce images for small parts (breast, thyroid and testicular), musculoskeletal, abdominal, OB-GYN, cardiac and vascular applications. This versatility contributes strongly to the machine's popularity.
Finally, the Logiq V5 is compatible with many GE ultrasound transducers. GE, when manufacturing and engineering probes, creates probes that are compatible with different types of systems. For example, the probes who's name end in "RS" (8C-RS, E8C-RS etc.) are generally compatible with portable ultrasound systems, as opposed to the E8C, or 8C, which are compatible with the regular stationary systems. The Logiq V5 is one of the few GE stationary systems that is compatible with "RS" probes.

Wauwatosa, WI and Amsterdam, Netherlands, September 1, 2013 - GE Healthcare, (NYSE: GE), announced today at the 2013 European Society of Cardiology annual meeting in Amsterdam that it has received CE mark for the latest version of its Vivid E9 Cardiovascular Ultrasound system now featuring XDclear technology. Built from the acclaimed Vivid E9 platform, the new Vivid E9 with XDclear is designed to enhance image quality in 2D, 4D, color and Doppler, aims to shorten exam time and enhance diagnostic confidence in the adult and pediatric echo labs, during interventions or in the operating room, as well as for shared services.
"With obesity on the rise worldwide, cardiologists are seeing more and more patients who are difficult to scan using traditional ultrasound transducer technology," said Al Lojewski, General Manager of Cardiovascular Ultrasound for GE Healthcare. "With the needs of the clinician and patient in mind, we continue to enhance overall image quality by developing new probe technology that allows for enhanced sensitivity and image acquisition with high resolution on even difficult to scan patients with the Vivid E9 with XDclear."
In a high-stress setting like the echo lab, interventional suite or the OR, conducting an ultrasound examination on a patient who is difficult to scan can result in not only an increased scan time, but additional anxiety for the patient and physician. GE Healthcare's recent development in acoustic engineering combining Single Crystal, Cool Stack and Acoustic Amplifier technologies make the XDclear transducers GE's highest performing transducers.
With the new Vivid E9 with XDclear, GE Healthcare offers a comprehensive probe portfolio of adult, pediatric, vascular and abdominal imaging probes which are well suited for many department's cardiovascular and shared services needs.
Enhancements include:
Echo- Combining the XDclear and Matrix Array technologies, the new M5Sc-D probe offers enhanced sensitivity in Color Flow and Doppler. The Vivid E9 with XDclear also provides quantification enhancements by fully automating regions of interest placement in AFI, and further developing its 4D strain offering to include the export of mesh for researchers and enhanced tracking for clinicians. Our EchoPAC now also includes support for multilayer 2D Strain as well as segmental wall thickness control.
Interventional -- GE has standardized Depth Illumination on this platform to enhance communication to non-echo experts and is offering the next GE generation of stereo vision called PolarVision. PolarVision can enhance communication in the cath lab and OR by combining polarized stereo with depth rendering on a dedicated 3D monitor.
Pediatrics - Imaging tiny fast moving heart structures and lesions in small babies and fetuses is a challenge, as both high spatial as well as temporal resolution is required simultaneously. Vivid E9 with XDclear delivers advanced technology to image pediatric patients and allows for the acquisition of images on a wide range of pediatric and neonatal patients, quickly and with minimal system adjustments. The XDclear technology enhances low-level signal display in 2D and M-Mode, and combines high color sensitivity with high frame rates, by leveraging parallel beam forming power. For fetal heart imaging in particular the result is deep penetration without sacrificing resolution.
Shared Services -- Working closely with the GE General Imaging LOGIQ E9 with XDclear team, the Vivid E9 with XDclear leverages that technology and delivers excellent performance in shared-services operation including, vascular, abdominal, OB/GYN, and small-parts applications. In vascular procedures, the Vivid E9 with XDclear introduces enhancements in both 2D and Color
